As a blind person, I never new my sports potential until I was about 15 years old. I started doing track and field and cross country when I was in high school, and I fell in love with it. I have continued with my love for sports by moving up to more of the hard corpse sports such as Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, kick boxing, and karate. Thees sports have helped my bulid discepline, respect, and confidence in everything I do. If you want to try a new sport, and you are told you can't because of your visual impairment, sign up for it anyway and show them what you've got!! Fight for your dreams, because they aren't just going to fall in to your hands.
You have to look for them and explore them. Dig deep in to them to see if that's what you really want!!

Exactly! I started tandem cycling in 2008. With the exercise plus changes to my eating habits, I lost 60 pounds and got my doctor off my back about all the drugs she was about to put me on for blood pressure and cholesterol. Then in 2010, I tried rowing at the suggestion of a friend. Never would have thought of it on my own. 2 years later and I'm still as in love with the sport as I was the first time I sat in a boat. I spend my days looking forward to my next practice or weight lifting session. It's incredible to do something that brings me so much joy and helps me stay healthy. It's so fun to go to the doctor every year and get praised for my bloodwork results instead of getting lectured. Just get out there and try something!

I tried playing Swish for a year, (Blind Table Tennis) then decided to try Sprinting, which I am now really good at. I found that being able to Run was more freer than just standing inside moving your hands and arms around.
